Double Door Gate
This was another project for a neighbor. They had a rotting redwood gate that badly needed replacing. The heavy duty iron fittings were fine. They just needed repainting, but the gate was a goner. Using a similar style, I built a mahogany replacement. The frame is mortise and tenon. As it was an outdoor project, I used a 2 part epoxy as the adhesive. The vertical panels are hand made tongue and groove so they’ll move with the weather changes. The best surprise was the varnish. The Epifanes product is fantastic to use and easily gives a high gloss finish that can be rubbed to the gloss desired.
